Smokey BBQ Tempeh Ribs

Ingredients

Tempeh Ribs

  • 1 pack tempeh

  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar

  • 1 tsp. smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp. garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper powder

  • ¼ tsp. salt

Smokey BBQ Sauce

  • 1 cup tomato sauce (ketchup)

  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar

  • 1 Tbsp. molasses

  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar

  • ½ tsp. smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp. garlic powder

  • 1 tsp. onion powder

  • ½ tsp. pepper

  • ½ tsp. mustard powder

  • Pinch of salt if required – depending on ketchup used

Method

  1. Heat oven to 180c (350f).

  2. Combine spices and sugar together then rub on tempeh.

  3. Place on baking tray lined with baking paper, cook in oven at 180c (350f) for 20 -25 minutes

  4. Mix ingredients for sauce together and simmer over medium heat until sauce has thickened, about 10 minutes.

  5. Remove tempeh from oven and coat with sauce, return to a 200c (400f) oven for 7-10 minutes. Remove from oven, flip and cover with sauce again. Cook for another 7-10 minutes until tempeh is sticky and browned.
